"Approaching Spin City Dance for the first time was a bit daunting. I questioned how I'd fit in or if I could mix with its high calibre of dancers that I'd seen around. But after becoming involved in one of SCD performance teams I was amazed how quickly I was welcome and at home with this great group of people. Having experienced many different dance schools snobbery I never once got the feeling that I was the 'new girl' or that I had to prove anything at SCD like I have in the past.
This school is a committed group of individuals - some who just come for fun and fitness, and the other die-hards like me that have quickly become addicted to everything salsa and more. We're almost like a family seeing each other week after week. We dance, chat, learn, laugh a lot, perform, compete, travel and we master counting 1-2-3 5-6-7 in our sleep.
But it's not just the people that make this school so great. Australia doesn't realise how lucky it is to have talent like Sharon Pakir teaching here. Having attended quite a few salsa congresses I can honestly say I rarely come across another teacher/dancer so incredibly talented and dedicated. Her dancing and teaching exudes style, grace and an effortless cool that makes us all envious! She is the backbone of SCD and we all strive to even be a little bit like her.

Sharon is able to break down the mechanism of doing a great spin and the hidden techniques that not many other instructors had the insight into to pass onto the students. I’ve got to tell you that what you’re doing with your dance and your dance school is AMAZING! Your success is very much well deserved and your resume is only getting more and more impressive. You’re uber impressive on any level when you’re performing and social dancing. You and Gupson have also inspired me to make an effort to learn how to dance bachata because you two absolutely grooved the mutha out of the dance!!!
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on the trip but more importantly thanks so much for organising the trip in the first place. I had SOOOOOOOOO much fun and what I really value from the trip are the friendships that grew from the time spent together. Aside from the obvious fun that was had on the trip and performing overseas, I thought it served as a great team-building exercise.
I’ve gotta keep this short coz I’ve still got some work to do but one last thing I must say – THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH for inviting me to join in the ADS routine training. Learning the routine and then performing at MSF was THE absolute highlight of the whole trip. I really really appreciate how you took into consideration what you thought I would like to do dancewise. Thanks for the support and encouragement during the practise sessions. I loved the challenge and it was definitely an experience I will treasure. - Trevor
