Known for her beautiful lines, posture, spinning and flexibility, this young lady holds her own in the salsa scene and catches your eye whenever she dances. A natural born performer, Elysia knows how to shine and captivate the audience on stage!
Elysia has over fifteen years experience as a classical ballet, contemporary and jazz dancer and in this time has competed and placed in numerous competitions. Elysia spent time with the Australian Ballet School as a Senior Associate, something that a lot of young girls only dream about. After so many years in the strict regime of the ballet world Elysia realised she needed a change and she looked for an alternative - in 2006 she found Salsa and has never looked back.
Elysia began training with Spin City Dance in 2008 and with her natural stage charisma and performance skills she quickly rose up the ranks and has since been involved in all of Spin City’s performance teams, and is a part of SCD's prestigious Pro Team. She toured with the school performing in Sydney, Adelaide, New Zealand, Malaysia and Singapore congresses all in the span of one year. But it's not just performing that she shines in, Elysia also competes and is one of Spin City’s top competition dancers.
In the 2008 Victorian Salsa Titles she was part of the teams competition which place 2nd, and in 2009 competed in Australia’s first Salsa Solo Competition in Sydney. In addition, with partner Christian Szilagyi, she competed in the professional division of the 2009 Victorian Salsa Titles and was 5th, and went on to place 10th in the professional division at the Nationals (ASC) in Sydney in August 2009. She was recently part of the first Spin City Dance Bachata team which placed 2nd at the 2009 Melbourne International Bachata Competition. In late 2009 Elysia started training with the SCD Pro Team, and performed their ‘Demure’ routine along with the ‘Club Chinois’ student team routine at the Sydney Salsa Congress in 2010 and on tour.
Since joining Spin City Dance Elysia has expanded her dance repertoire from Salsa On1and On2 to Cha Cha, Bachata and Zouk. With her bubbly and fun personality, dance knowledge and ability to break down and explain things, it was only a natural choice to make her an instructor as well and we should all be excited to have this rising star on the team in 2010!
