Easily spotted at the studio strutting her stuff in short shorts and leg warmers, this girl oozes style and sexiness wherever she goes. Known for her prowess on stage, Christie lights it up with her sharp clean lines, great posture and tight spins, all with a confident, sexy attitude to boot.
Christie has an extensive dance background having danced and performed in various disciplines since she was six years old. She has trained in classical ballet, jazz and tap from this young age as well as 4 yrs competitive gymnastics. She has accumulated over eighteen years of dance experience and has competed and placed in numerous competitions, both solos and teams in these disciplines.
In 2001 Christie started modern jive (ceroc) and placed in numerous competitions in all categories.
Some Highlights in Modern Jive have been:
- Equal 1st Victorian championships 2007 masters freestyle
- 1st masters freestyle Sydney 2006
- 2nd masters freestyle Brisbane 2006
- 3rd masters freestyle Sydney 2007
-1st advanced freestyle Melbourne 2004
Christie started dancing Salsa with Spin City in January of 2008 and after dancing only for 6 months competed and won with Nathan O'Leary in the Victorian Salsa State Titles On1 Professional division. They then went on to place 3rd in the On1 Professional at the Australian Salsa Classic 2008. In the same year Christie got the chance to travel overseas and perform with Spin City at the Malaysia Salsa Festival plus perform her winning Victorian titles routine in Singapore! Not bad for a girl who had only been dancing salsa less then a year!
Later in the year she was asked by Sharon to perform and train for the 2009 Sydney Salsa Congress not just in the student team but Sharon's professional team with the innovative "Vampires" routine.
In 2009, Christie competed at Australian Salsa Solo Shine competition and placed 2nd in the female category. She then backed up it up again at the 2009 Vic Salsa State Titles, this time winning the showcase section with Nathan O'Leary and 2nd in the teams division.
Christie was part of the first spin city Bachata routine which placed 2nd at the 2009 Victorian Bachata Championships. So far Christie has placed in every competition she has entered, showing us that this talented young lady's star is on the rise. Christie has learnt and performed pretty much in every routine that has been taught at Spin City since she started and can spend one night performing 3 or more routines with just one song in between to get changed. Christie has an uncanny ability to pick up choreography quickly and retain previous routines taught and at any given stage trains for 2 or 3 routines at a time. This makes her one of Spin City’s most seasoned performers and competitors.
In 2009 Christie was asked by Sharon to be one of the instructors on the Club Chinois student team which will be performed at the 2010 Sydney Salsa Congress. This was a big honour and step up for Christie as she had only previously assisted in routines and casual classes and this routine will be represented interstate and overseas next year. Christie immensely enjoyed helping the students and watching them improve in leaps and bounds, and her addition on the teaching team this year will be a fantastic boon for Spin City!
Christie can dance both On1 and On2, Cha Cha, Bachata and Zouk and loves nothing better then to dance and strut around!
