Fancy some Salsa, Zumba, Body Conditioning, Zouk, Cha-Cha, Ladies Styling this week?  That's just some of the classes lined up for term 1 at Spin City Dance!  We have a fresh teaching team, with some new faces sure to inspire you in your dancing, and all in our gorgeous air-conditioned studio. 

In just over two weeks we have two teams (Club Chinois Student Team & Demure Pro Team) heading to the International Sydney Salsa Congress.  This massive event is not to be missed and we can't wait to show Australia (and the world) what SCD is capable of.

On top of the Sydney Salsa Congress we have a very special guest visiting our studio in late January - the million moves man - Supermario!  Be sure to check out our Events page for more information on his workshops and our Supermario Social.

What a year it has been at Spin City Dance!


When 2009 began, we had grandiose ideas of growth and a huge wishlist. We had no idea that 12 months later we would be reflecting on such a period of astonishing change! One year ago, SCD was a small school that operated out of a small subleased space 2 nights a week. We offered just the one dance style - salsa, and had just a few levels and some mambo classes.


We knew we wanted to see our little cosy salsa school expand, and sure enough with the support of you, our fabulous students, we now have our own lovely studio, a dance school that offers a nice variety of dance styles and top instructors in their genres. We’ve travelled the world performing and teaching, trained over 60 student & professional performers, had over 500 dancers through our doors to learn about our high standards in dance, hosted several events and guests, competed in many competitions (and won some pretty trophies).


Our actual list of achievements can be seen below, but even more astounding is that with this growth in our school, we have seen our students blossom. With offering more levels and a greater range of instruction, we’ve watched with pride as students have advanced amazingly, surpassing theirs and our expectations.


There is nothing more rewarding than teaching, except seeing that teaching transform the students you have and build the strong relationships we have here in our dance family. We feel that without this insane expansion we’ve had, we would not have been able to provide this to students. More importantly though, without our students’ absolute support through all the change, we would not be here today, in this gorgeous space, with what we offer.


In 2010, we have a great wish list once again, and even better plans. With a class schedule that provides even wider scope to our dancers to grow, a focus on body wellness and fitness, and a new course structure that we know will help students improve even more, we just know it’s going to be a big one. And we can’t wait. We hope you are excited too!


So here’s to 2010 - with lots of travel, parties, classes, music and of course, dancing. And best of all, to greater relationships in this fantastic community we call spincitydance.

Advanced Salsa Course
Mondays, 7-8pm
5 - 26 October (4 weeks)
$72 or mark off four on class card
This four week course is designed to teach you how to execute and follow moves that will make you oh-so-popular on the dance floor! People will be clamouring to dance with you! With a focus on great technique, smooth ninja-like moves, effortless but effective lead and follow, and suave turn patterns, this course is sure to book out so please register with us at info@spincitydance.com.

Salsa Foundations
Thursdays, 7-8pm
1 October - 4 November  (6 weeks)
$108 or mark off six on class card
Salsa foundations will be covering Spin City's level 1 syllabus intensively over a fun 6-week course. This is a great course for absolute beginners, beginners wanting to make the transition to level 2, and also for experienced dancers who want to consolidate their footwork, lead and follow technique and instil good salsa basics! Expect to come out with great technique, nights of laughter and unconscious humming of salsa songs throughout the day!  Register at info@spincitydance.com.

West Coast Swing Foundations
Wednesdays, 8-10pm
7 October - 4 November (5 weeks)
$150
Experience the style that everyone's talking about with Bianca and Brett's WCS Foundations course!  They'll cover the 14 core 6- and 8-count patterns as well as concepts like the anchor, post and the magical "stretch" that makes West Coast Swing look and feel fantastic!  Brett and Bianca are experts in WCS and look forward to sharing their passion with anyone wanting a solid foundation in this style.  

Bachata Performance Course
Wednesdays 7-8pm
7 October - 25 October (8 weeks)
Prerequisites - intermediate bachata and above
$130

Imagine feeling the music so intensely you could just close your eyes and glide and sway with your partner across the floor to the beautiful strains of bachata music… Bachata is a smooth, sensual dance that is all about connecting with your partner - which also makes for a great dance performance!  SCD is providing an opportunity to learn some smooth bachata choreography, but not only that, there will also be an opportunity to COMPETE!  Competition details are under 'Events' below.  Register at info@spincitydance.com
