What a year it has been at Spin City Dance!


When 2009 began, we had grandiose ideas of growth and a huge wishlist. We had no idea that 12 months later we would be reflecting on such a period of astonishing change! One year ago, SCD was a small school that operated out of a small subleased space 2 nights a week. We offered just the one dance style - salsa, and had just a few levels and some mambo classes.


We knew we wanted to see our little cosy salsa school expand, and sure enough with the support of you, our fabulous students, we now have our own lovely studio, a dance school that offers a nice variety of dance styles and top instructors in their genres. We’ve travelled the world performing and teaching, trained over 60 student & professional performers, had over 500 dancers through our doors to learn about our high standards in dance, hosted several events and guests, competed in many competitions (and won some pretty trophies).


Our actual list of achievements can be seen below, but even more astounding is that with this growth in our school, we have seen our students blossom. With offering more levels and a greater range of instruction, we’ve watched with pride as students have advanced amazingly, surpassing theirs and our expectations.


There is nothing more rewarding than teaching, except seeing that teaching transform the students you have and build the strong relationships we have here in our dance family. We feel that without this insane expansion we’ve had, we would not have been able to provide this to students. More importantly though, without our students’ absolute support through all the change, we would not be here today, in this gorgeous space, with what we offer.


In 2010, we have a great wish list once again, and even better plans. With a class schedule that provides even wider scope to our dancers to grow, a focus on body wellness and fitness, and a new course structure that we know will help students improve even more, we just know it’s going to be a big one. And we can’t wait. We hope you are excited too!


So here’s to 2010 - with lots of travel, parties, classes, music and of course, dancing. And best of all, to greater relationships in this fantastic community we call spincitydance.
